Read as a picture

Send a scan, or a photograph of the print taken flat in daylight. We work out how deep each tone has to be cut so the picture still reads — a porch rail, a face, a dress — rather than a grey square. What has already faded out of the paper stays faded in the stone.

The honest bit

Group photographs are the hardest, because everybody in them is small. We will tell you before you pay whether the faces will survive at the size you want — rather than take the order and disappoint you.
